MicroPort® Awarded "2017 China Intellectual Property Model Enterprise"

Shanghai, China – Shanghai MicroPort Medical (Group) Co., Ltd. ("MicroPort^®") was recently awarded "2017 China Intellectual Property Model Enterprise" by the State Intellectual Property Office ("SIPO"). According to information released on the website of SIPO, a total of 182 enterprises received such honor and only six are located in Shanghai. MicroPort is the only Shanghai-based medical company that made the list this year.

The SIPO screens "China Intellectual Property Model Enterprises" annually aiming at cultivating a batch of domestic companies with independent intellectual property, well-known brands, and international competitive strength, to serve for the innovation-oriented development strategy, and support economic restructuring and upgrading, as well as help improve the quality and efficiency of growth. Companies made the list were selected from "Enterprises with Intellectual Property Advantages" by local intellectual property offices, followed by expert review, and the results were published on the SIOP website for public review. Companies selected as "2017 China Intellectual Property Model Enterprise" will be specially cultivated from December 2017 to November 2020.

MicroPort^® was listed as the first batch of "Enterprises with Intellectual Property Advantages" as early as 2013. In the past four years, the company has been further strengthening the management system of intellectual property, such as drawing up its strategic plans in accordance with the government's general intellectual property strategies, effectively using intellectual property research and analysis to provide crucial information for decision makers regarding project R&D, important component purchasing, high-tech investment and acquisition, as well as talent introducing, taking advantage of intellectual property laws and regulations to protect the company's intellectual property rights, organizing month-long activities annually to raise employees' awareness and enhance their knowledge on intellectual property, and leading the formation of the Patent Alliance of Minimally Invasive Medical Device Enterprises.

The honor of "2017 China Intellectual Property Model Enterprise" demonstrated the government's recognition in MicroPort^®'s intellectual property work and will fuel the company's motivation to further enhance its advantage in intellectual property.
