Shanghai, China – The Pudong New Area Commission of Science & Technology and Economy recently published a list of "Pudong New Area Demonstration Bases for Integration of Science & Technology Innovation and Science Communication" that were the first batch of such bases selected in Pudong New Area. Shanghai MicroPort® Medical (Group) Co., Ltd. ("MicroPort®") was recognized as a founding entity out of a total of five in the program.
The organizations and institutions that made the list are mainly engaged in the development and commercialization of cutting-edge high technologies. They have achieved major results of scientific and technological innovation, have undertaken major national and municipal programs of scientific and technological innovation, or have access to major platforms of scientific and technological innovation such as large science equipment and national or municipal key laboratories.
Since its foundation in 1998, MicroPort® has always concentrated on self-owned innovation. MicroPort® currently owns about 3,500 patents and patent applications. MicroPort® has been honored with the China National Science and Technology Progress Awards for five times (including one award for the mode of corporate innovation platform) and provincial or ministerial science and technology progress awards for multiple times. As of November 2019, a total of 17 devices of MicroPort® have been granted entries into the Special Review and Approval Process for Innovative Medical Devices with National Medical Products Administration of China (NMPA) which is also known as the Green Path. The entry into the first batch of “Pudong New Area Demonstration Bases for Integration of Science & Technology Innovation and Science Communication” fully embodies that the innovation capability and innovation achievements have been highly recognized by the public.
